One of the most common questions we get asked in person is, “how do you keep your skin so clear?” Especially as women who exercise and sweat on a daily basis, maintaining happy and healthy skin can be challenging. We’re no beauty gurus nor do we know exactly how toners, serums, and essences differ from each other. However we do know that a radiant complexion begins with healthy lifestyle habits and is maintained with a daily skincare routine.
We’ve partnered with FRÉ Skincare to bring you 4 simple tips for keeping sweaty skin radiant and clear!
1. Drink plenty of water
Before I even start making breakfast, I chug 2 cups (8 ounces/250mL each) of water. That way I’ve already ticked off a quarter of my daily 8 cups. You will rarely find me or Chew without a water bottle in hand. We carry 1L bottles everywhere we go so that we have access to water throughout the day. After each workout, be sure to replenish the fluids lost in sweat by drinking at least 2 cups of water. Since skin is 64% water, staying hydrated keeps your skin plump and keeps your blood flowing (see #3) to give your skin that glowing, naturally flushed tone.
2. Sleep lots
My early bedtime is the butt-end of many jokes (#grandmalife), but hey, at least I’m the one waking up with glowing skin! When you drift off into lala land, your cells, including skin cells, get to work and repair damage. Sweat and sun rays cause irritation and damage to skin, so adequate hours asleep is definitely needed for proper restoration. It isn’t called beauty sleep for nothing!
Lack of quality sleep makes me stressed, which then leads to break outs and perpetuates poor sleep, so it quickly becomes a vicious cycle. Prioritize sleep to give your skin cells the TLC they deserve!
3. Exercise and sweat often
Besides reducing stress and improving sleep, regular exercise also promotes healthy blood circulation. Blood delivers nutrients and oxygen to all your cells, and transports away wastes, toxins, and free radicals to be expelled by the liver and kidneys. Contrary to popular belief, sweat doesn’t actually do much detoxing. Only trace amounts of toxins are released via sweat because most toxins are attracted to fat, and sweat is mostly water (which is why you need to drink lots of water after your workout!) However, sweating does push the dirt and debris out of your pores, so it is your body’s way of cleansing.
That being said, if sweat continues to sit on your skin, the grime that was just purged settles back into your pores, leading to other problems. Which brings us to our 4th and final tip…
4. Clean and protect your skin with vegan skincare

I was searching for some beauty tips to look younger than the actual age. You have shared information about some vegan beauty products. Well I am already using natural vegan beauty products.
