We were invited by Lily & Roo for complimentary pedicures to experience their non-toxic, vegan, and locally sourced salon products. As always, all opinions are our own.
Heyya everybody! Life has been absolutely bananas (literally) and recipe development had been temporarily swept aside during December. Pretty much every day last month had involved sourcing ripe bananas, pureeing bananas, baking or selling banana bread; everything from our houses and cars to our hair and clothes smell like bananas. We really wish we could’ve brought our list of holiday ideas to life, but we will get back to our regular recipe programming in this month (#Veganuary coming up!)
In December, we had the joy of bringing our banana bread fundraiser to three different holiday markets in Vancouver. The three markets went by in a blur, and so did half of December. After standing for many many hours in the kitchen and dancing at our market booths (yup, we serve a side of prime entertainment with our banana bread), we couldn’t wait to kick off our shoes and treat our feet to a little vegan TLC at newly-opened Lily & Roo Nail Salon in Kitsilano.
Upon entering this charming and feminine salon, we were seated in comfy grey sofas and offered hot drinks. While our nail technicians got to work caring for our weary feet, we flipped through the gel polish swatches and unintentionally picked similar pale pink colours. What can we say, great minds think alike! Chew managed to suppress her giggles while her soles got buffed; it was quite entertaining for the rest of us (we took one of our bffs with us; she’s behind the camera!) The salon also kindly added a few gold stars and a moon to finish off Leung’s vegan pedicure.
Beyond their service, we love their commitment to supporting local small businesses. Their floral chandeliers are made by a florist just down the street and they use pedicure skincare products from Squamish- and Vancouver-based brands.
Both of us are often on our feet, either out running, standing for entire work shifts, walking across our very large campus, or bustling around the kitchen. We left Lily & Roo feeling relaxed and loooving how clean and pretty our toes looked! Although you won’t find the most thorough callus care here, you will find a welcoming ambiance and accommodating nail technicians. Lily & Roo is an adorable venue to host intimate parties for your closest girlfriends and a great spot to pamper your momma.
One last tidbit to add, our nail colour hasn’t budged and it’s been a whole month since we’ve been at the salon! Feels great to have toes that don’t look like gremlin feet when I take off my shoes at the yoga studio, or when I’m sporting my daily Birkenstocks look… even in the winter!
