Food is always better enjoyed over invigorating conversations with great people. I love family-style dinners where everything is laid out on the table and shared by everyone at the table; everyone gets a taste of each dish, and we become more prosocial than sitting down and ordering our own entrees. Nachos make a great appetizer for any dinner party, especially in the summertime. There’s nothing like a full tray of nachos loaded up with corn, avocado, lime, barbecue sauce, and all the great flavours summer has to offer.
My absolute happiest dinnertimes are spent with our group of good friends whom we call the Castle Family. Despite being chronically stressed bearing exams after exams over our academic semesters, we manage to meet up midweek every 2-3 weeks to simply talk and joke with each other about life and its happenings.
Every dinner with each other, our stomaches and hearts are left full to the point of needing to lie down. This group of people just makes me so happy and every time I see them, I know my day will only get better. They make me realize how completely and utterly amazing and enriching life is when you are with the right company. It’s such a blessing to have these humans in my life because they are my humans, and I wouldn’t trade them for anyone else (ahem, Abe you sold both Leung and I from riding in your car back from camp)
Life is like a platter of nachos. You are the chips, toppings are the people, and every bite is an experience in your life. No nacho you pick up from the platter is the same, just like how no one you meet is the same and no experience is ever identical. Some bites are better than others, and some bites are more plain jane (not the best, but still good). But if you are happy with yourself from within, whatever you add to your life just enhances you, and gives your life more sparkle, more zest. Everyone you interact with in this life has touched you and changed a sentence or two in your life story even in the smallest of moments.
We can see life as “whatever floats your boat” kinda deal. Your toppings are your choice; if ya don’t like corn, find something else you like because there are millions of ingredients out there for you to serve your experiences in this life. Load it up with more good people and every bite of your life will be all the more satisfying.
